Your Favorite Enemies live at Café Campus…
Your Favorite Enemies live at Café Campus…
November 13th, 2007
Shortly after coming back from their first European Tour, following another show in Montreal a few weeks earlier, at the Arcadia festival, the band played at the Café Campus!
Right before the show, Alex gave a short interview to YB, talking about what was coming up for the band, including a first video clip for the band in the beginning of the following year, that would involve a lot of people (and that, it did!!). Enjoy the show, and treat yourself to a full version of Sunset Blow!
“We wanted hope, they gave us ambition
We wanted to taste faith, they gave us religion
Who believes there’s more? More than hopelessness…?”
Discover, near the end of the video, some testimonies of the fans, coming from different places around the world… And discover Sef’s way of understanding everything… A way that is quite unique, definitely worthy of a king!!!! Also, see Ben’s “different” fashion!

So crazy to see those images again! It’s been five years… the band has evolved and grown so much! But one thing that hasn’t changed is their passion and the truthfulness towards everything they do! I know that night I was moved to tears by their passion, their music and seeing my friends, my family, on stage, putting everything they had out there was so inspiring and broke down many walls! Thanks guy for always being yourselves!

It’s funny because, just a few days ago, we were back at the Café Campus, to spend another exciting moment in music! Once more, the same passion for music, the same purpose for gathering united us all…and it was simply delightful to craft a new moment, in this place we know so well! And even though circumstances may be the same…going back in time makes me realize how beautiful every season of our life is… and also that everything can be refreshed, redefined & renewed!! I dig that!! Thanks again for sharing such memories guys!!:)

I have to say that the part that touched me the most is the end…When YB says ”cut” and that we see our 3 friends showing love and compassion to each other. It’s real, it’s not staged and I believe it gives sense to everything that was shared in the video.
It’s what the band truly inspired them: to be real, let go of their vulnerability and be free! No matter if it’s on a couch, at a YFE concert or anywhere else, that’s what it’s all about for Your Favorite Enemies… being real, free and dropping the masks, I love it!
No need for fireworks, big lights and special effects to impact the people around us….it’s all about living for real! 100% alive and real!!

Oh yeah, I’m still trying to understand what happened with my look back then, maybe I was looking for my mother or something… lol!! One thing is for sure, yes we’ve been through hell and a freaking burning one at that… but we always managed through the storms to have fun and to stay alive! Even in dark times I still remember the laughs we shared and it reminded me of how all the friends of the band played a crucial part in our joy. On the couch at the end of the video, you got France, Japan and Canada reunited together. This has always fascinated me, no matter how far we could be from one another…. we were all the same; looking for love, acceptance, forgiveness and we’re all trying to understand our place in this crazy world. I’m very grateful for all the brothers and sisters we’ve met through this adventure and I can’t wait to meet more!!!

Back in those days when we performed that concert; I, myself was discovering about the relevance of those words for my own life. Not really knowing why I was hitting the same walls over and over trying to please everyone and fit any expectation without realizing my own value and find the true passion and the will to craft something out of my own life. Not out of ambition but according to what I love, to what my dreams are, to what I truly have faith in. Living according to what I deeply feel inside and keep my hands open about it is still a work in progress and I think it will always be. What an immense privilege to be able to share that challenge, that journey with you through music, through our different experiences. Just like you can hear in ”Sunset Blow”, we’ve been those wasted kids who now found dignity and respect by choosing to be there for one another. That’s how I see my band. That’s what I felt when I first spent time with them and it’s still what always touches me the most today.
