First concert and a busy day in Brisbane!
We all woke up early this morning. And I mean, really early! For the most of us, it was way before 6am! It allowed a few of us to watch another incredible sunrise from the house where we’re staying however!
The action started very early too, as everyone was getting ready for the very first show of the Australian tour. Last check up for the guitars, the amps, the drums, the keyboard, and all the other little details that go unnoticed but that make all the difference in a show!
We headed to downtown Brisbane where we dropped Jeff for his first of many meetings! He was also having a very busy day, between meetings, interviews, photoshoot plus the show tonight!
Then it was a quick stop at Starbucks before we headed to the first interview with Alex. 2 incredible interviewers, very passionate about music, did a short interview with Alex, only a few questions, in order to get the band out there in Australia. The questions: about Australia in general, about playing at the Big Sound Festival, about the album release here in Australia, and about music & high school! In total, around 20 minutes.
We then came back to the Starbucks, where Alex faithfully answered some more interviews, written this time, for both UK and Australia webzines! A few caramel macchiatos later, we all left for the photoshoot, where we would also meet Jeff at the end of his meetings!
Quick photoshoot for a magazine, then it was already time for another interview for Alex! An interview about the creation of the band, our own label, the different releases, being in Australia and the music scene over here, human rights, living the moment, dreams, and upcoming plans for the band!
The interview ended after 30 minutes, just in time for all of us to attend Jeff’s conference, as he was a speaker in the DIY Life panel. DIY is something we live by here, doing everything our own way in order to be able to get as close to you guys as possible. About staying ourselves and being true to what we believe in.
A quick run down several levels, and then Jeff and Alex were up for yet another interview! Alex was really happy not to have to do this one alone. Not that doing interviews alone isn’t cool, but it sure is better when you’re 2! “Because you have someone else to laugh at your jokes, too”.
We then went on to visit the place where the show was. Not a venue, it was a stage set up in an alley called the bakery lane. They used fake grass carpets all over the place, with Chinese lanterns hanging all over our heads. Graffitis everywhere completed what would become a perfect template for the band’s sounds and noises. And then it was time to grab a bite and walk a bit before the show, exploring the 4 streets surrounding the venue… Yeah, it was a quick walk… 😉
And then came the show!!! It was a short set, a very short set. Keep in mind that 3 hours with YFE live feels short, so you can only imagine how this 20 minute set felt! Here’s the set list:

And here are a few pictures for you! As short as it was, it was a tremendously intense show, the only way for Your Favorite Enemies to be on stage!
We are now back home, about to share a meal all together, talking about the day and show! We’re all secretly hoping we won’t see any spiders like we’ve seen last night… As Alex said just before he bravely went to take pictures of the spider and kill it, some people with long hair, beard, and 2 tattooed arms may scare people in the streets, but when they come across spiders, you would mistake them for little girls with the way they scream!

Первое выступление и трудовой день в Брисбене!
Этим утром все мы проснулись рано. Очень рано! Большинство из нас поднялось, когда на часах не было и 6 утра, благодаря чему нам удалось насладиться – правда, всего лишь из окна нашего дома – еще одним невероятным восходом!
Работа также закипела ни свет ни заря, ведь нам нужно было готовиться к своему первому в рамках тура по Австралии выступлению. Были тщательно проверены гитары, усилители, тарелки, синтезатор и все те кажущиеся несущественными мелочи, которые, однако, имеют решающее значение во время концерта!
Мы направились в центр Брисбена, где у Джеффа была назначена первая из многочисленных встреч! Впереди его ждал непростой день, состоящий из встреч, интервью, фотосессии и, наконец, вечернего выступления!
Потом мы заскочили в Starbucks и отправились вместе с Алексом на его первое интервью. 2 замечательных журналиста, всем сердцем любящих музыку, задали Алексу несколько вопросов, чтобы представить группу австралийским слушателям. Они спрашивали его об Австралии в целом, о выступлении на Big Sound Festival, о выходе альбома здесь, в Австралии, о музыке и старших классах школы! Всего это интервью заняло 20 минут.
Потом мы вернулись в Starbucks, где Алекс ответил на вопросы еще нескольких интервью – на этот раз в письменной форме – для британского и австралийского интернет-журналов! Пару карамельных маккиато спустя мы отправились к месту проведения фотосессии, где нас должен был ждать завершивший свою встречу Джефф!
Быстро отснявшись для журнала, мы поехали на очередное интервью Алекса! На этот раз вопросы касались создания группы и основания собственного лейбла, релизов, пребывания в Австралии и местной музыкальной сцены, прав человека, жизни мгновением, а также мечтаний и ближайших планов группы!
Интервью закончилось ровно через полчаса – как раз вовремя, чтобы мы могли успеть на конференцию DIY Life, для участия в которой в качестве спикера был приглашен Джефф. “DIY” – принцип, на котором построена вся наша жизнь. Поскольку мы делаем все по-своему, у нас есть возможность быть максимально близко к вам, ребята, и оставаться верными себе и тому, во что мы верим.
Вскоре Джеффа и Алекса ждали на еще одном интервью! Алекс был очень рад тому, что ему не придется отвечать на вопросы в одиночку. Не то чтобы индивидуальные интервью были плохи; просто они становятся еще лучше, когда вас двое! «И потому что рядом с тобой есть тот, кто всегда посмеется над твоей шуткой».
После интервью мы отправились на место проведения первого выступления. Концертная площадка представляла собой сцену, установленную на узкой улочке, в так называемом «пекарском переулке». Землю здесь застелили искусственной травой, а над площадкой развесили китайские фонарики. Завершали картину многочисленные граффити. То, что мы увидели, было идеальным обрамлением для звуков и шумов, которым предстояло родиться этим вечером. А сейчас нам нужно было перекусить и немного прогуляться по 4 соседствующим с переулком улицам…. Да, это была весьма непродолжительная прогулка…;)
И вот настал момент выхода на сцену!!! Нам было отведено мало, очень мало времени. Учитывая то, что, когда дело касается «живых» выступлений YFE, 3 часа пролетают незаметно, можете себе представить, как мало было этих 20 минут! За это время прозвучали следующие песни:

– From The City To The Ocean.
А вот несколько кадров, сделанных во время выступления! Несмотря на свою непродолжительность, оно поражало накалом страстей – а иначе Your Favorite Enemies и не могут!
Сейчас мы уже дома, собираемся ужинать и обсуждать прошедшие мероприятия и концерт! И все мы втайне надеемся, что, в отличие от прошлой ночи, сегодня нам не встретятся пауки… Как сказал Алекс, перед тем, как мужественно направиться к пауку, чтобы сфотографировать, а затем уничтожить его, – некоторые товарищи с длинными волосами, бородой и обеими руками, покрытыми татуировками, могут наводить страх на прохожих, но когда они встречаются лицом к лицу с пауками, их можно принять за маленьких девочек – так громко они кричат!

Makes my head spin just reading about the schedule 🙂 Congratulations and very very proud of you!! Jeff was certainly a fabulous candidate for a DIY panel – you guys have been writing the “book” on that for years – learning and growing so much – you and all of us in this family who love you and believe in you so much!! I heard from amazing kiwi after the concert who said it was AWESOME though short and very much enjoyed spending a little time with you after – can’t wait to hear stories and see pics of tonight’s longer concert and family time! love you all so much!! prayers and huge hugs!! 🙂

Oh you mean that the bus driver that picked you up at the airport had his two arms tattooed too? Cause obviously, you are not talking about any of my brothers here lol!!
I am really glad to know that you are having such a good time! We are with you and I am sure that your passion, love for others and fraternity are an inspiration for everyone around you!

20 minutes set… Is it even possible for us to not take 20 minutes for a single song in a live concert???
I’m so proud of you guys… That is so true that DIY means not only doing it ourselves but staying close to our friends in the meantime…
Music without close friends to listen to it wouldn’t mean the same for any of us!!!
Can’t wait to see what’s next on this incredible tour!!!
Good Job Alex & Jeff for your first panel appearance and all the interviews on this busy first day!!!
