A Typical London day?
First morning in the UK! And a typical London one! lol! It’s grey, it’s cold, it’s raining! The house staying at is incredible, despite a few problems with the heating system… Let’s say its pretty much as cold as outside, minus the rain!
We gathered around the table in the dining room, with a coffee in hand, kindly prepared by Moose. But it didn’t take Jeff more than a sip that he never swallowed to know that the coffee was way too strong – twice the dose of an already strong coffee in a cup that is half the size of a normal one doesn’t make good coffee… lol! We then shared stories of our first night… Commonly called snoring stories! Usual suspects, usual snores!
And then we headed off to John Henry’s! And I am not sure if it’s the London weather that affected Sef that much… but we all witnessed something completely surreal in the car!
The road went smoothly, which is no small matter considering the fact that it was Matt’s first time driving in the UK… Which means on the other side of the road, on the other side of the car!
John Henry’s is the place where we rented gear during our European Tour 5 years ago, and going back there was quite nostalgic! People were incredibly nice welcoming us, very warm and friendly! The warmth of the people is such a huge contrast compared to the weather here! lol! We got a few amps, acoustic guitars (no one knows what can happen at a YFE show!), and a drum for Moose as well!!
“No wonder music is so good here, the weather is so depressing here, they need to have their emotions bloom into something else” said Alex… he couldn’t have said better. The weather sure is depressing, but the people we’ve met so far are incredibly alive!
Tomorrow is rehearsal day… And the first gig of the tour is coming pretty fast, too! We’re all really excited about it!!!

Типичный лондонский день?
Это наше первое утро в Великобритании! И оно такое лондонское! lol
За окном серо, холодно и сыро! Дом, в котором мы остановились, — замечательный, несмотря на проблемы с отоплением… Внутри точно так же, как снаружи, разве что дождь не идет!
Мы собрались в столовой с кофе, заботливо приготовленным Moose’ом. Но Джеффу хватило и непроглоченного глотка, чтобы понять, что этот орешек ему не по зубам, — двойная порция и без того уже крепкого кофе в кружке объемом в половину обычной не благоприятствует хорошему вкусу напитка…lol!
Потом мы рассказывали друг другу о первой проведенной в доме ночи… Мы называем это “храпельными историями”! Привычные подозреваемые, привычный храп!
А после завтрака мы отправились в John Henry’s! И я не знаю точно, лондонская ли это погода оказала столь сильное влияние на Сефа… но в машине нам всем пришлось стать свидетелями кое-чего необычного!
Добрались мы благополучно, и в данном случае это совсем не пустяки, ведь Мэтт впервые вел машину по британским дорогам… то есть на другой стороне проезжей части, на другой стороне машины!
John Henry’s — это место, в котором мы арендовали музыкальное оборудование во время гастролей по Европе 5 лет назад, — так что визит туда вызвал у нас ностальгические чувства! Люди приняли нас очень тепло, радушно и дружелюбно! И эта теплота создавала разительный контраст с местной погодой! lol На этот раз мы взяли в John Henry’s несколько усилителей, акустические гитары (никогда не знаешь, что может произойти на выступлении YFE!) и барабан для Moose’а!
“Неудивительно, что здесь делают такую хорошую музыку: погода вгоняет в депрессию, и им нужно найти способ дать своим эмоциям расцвести,” — говорит Алекс… Лучше и не скажешь. Погода действительно удручающая, но люди, которых мы здесь встречаем, полны жизни!
Завтрашний день мы посвятим репетициям… Не за горами первое выступление в рамках тура! И мы с нетерпением его ждем!!!

Ein typischer London-Tag?
Der erste Morgen in England! Und ein typischer für London! lol! Es ist grau, es ist kalt, es regnet! Das Haus, in welchem wir sind, ist unglaublich, bis auf ein paar Probleme mit dem Heizsystem… Lasst uns sagen, dass es in etwa so kalt ist wie draußen, bis auf den Regen!
Wir haben uns um den Tisch im Esszimmer versammelt, mit einem Kaffee in unseren Händen, welcher freundlicherweise von Moose vorbereitet wurde. Aber Jeff hat nicht mehr als einen Schluck, welchen er nie geschluckt hat, gebraucht um zu wissen, dass der Kaffee viel zu stark war – die doppelte Dosis von einem schon starken Kaffee in einer Tasse, welche halb so groß ist wie eine normale, ergibt keinen guten Kaffee… lol! Dann haben wir Geschichten von unserer ersten Nacht geteilt… Welche im allgemeinen Schnarch-Geschichten heißen! Die üblichen Verdächtigen, das übliche Schnarchen!
Und dann sind wir zu John Henry’s gegangen! Und ich bin mir nicht sicher ob es das Wetter in London ist, welches Sef so beeinflusst hat… aber wir alle haben etwas vollkommen surreales im Auto bezeugt!
Der Weg verlief ruhig, was keine kleine Angelegenheit ist, wenn man die Tatsache betrachtet, dass es das erste Mal war, dass Matt in England gefahren ist… Was bedeutet auf der anderen Seite der Straße, auf der anderen Seite des Autos!
John Henry’s war der Ort, an welchem wir während unserer Europa-Tour vor 5 Jahren Ausrüstung gemietet haben und wieder dorthin zu gehen war ziemlich nostalgisch! Die Leute haben uns unglaublich nett willkommen geheißen, sehr warm und freundlich! Die Wärme der Menschen ist so ein großer Kontrast zu dem Wetter hier! lol! Wir haben ein paar Amps, akustische Gitarren (niemand weiß, was bei einer YFE Show passieren kann) und auch ein Schlagzeug für Moose bekommen!!
“Kein Wunder, dass die Musik hier so gut ist, dass Wetter ist so deprimierend hier, sie müssen ihre Gefühle in etwas anderem erblühen lassen” sagte Alex… er hätte es nicht besser sagen können. Dass Wetter ist eindeutig deprimierend aber die Leute, welche wir bis jetzt getroffen haben, sind unglaublich lebendig!
Morgen ist ein Probetag… Und auch der erste Auftritt der Tour kommt schnell! Wir sind alle wirklich gespannt darauf!!!

You should have seen Jeff’s face when he had his first sip of coffee, priceless! Just like the great laugh we had after. Having a coffee with Jeff in the morning is something I never want to miss, I’m just not used to prepare the “instant” Starbucks coffee… 🙂
Such a special feeling to drive in the streets of London and then meet everyone at John Henry’s, I didn’t have enough eyes to look everywhere, and not enough words to say how excited I was, how warm it felt to be there all together again! I love the smell of this place, those corridors filled with pictures of everyone who rehearsed there, started a tour there… For everything that it meant, that day was everything but grey. Thanks to the great family at John Henry’s!

Ihr hättet Jeff’s Gesicht sehen sollen, als er seinen ersten Schluck Kaffee hatte, unbezahlbar! Genauso wie das großartige Gelächter, welches wir danach hatten. Einen Kaffee mit Jeff am Morgen zu haben ist etwas, was ich nie vermissen möchte, ich bin es nur nicht gewohnt “löslichen” Starbucks Kaffee vorzubereiten…
Es war so ein besonderes Gefühl durch die Straßen von London zu fahren und dann alle bei John Henry’s zu treffen, ich hatte nicht genug Augen um überall hin zu schauen und nicht genug Worte um zu sagen, wie aufgeregt ich war, wie warm es sich anfühlte wieder zusammen dort zu sein! Ich liebe den Geruch dieses Ortes, diese Gänge voller Bilder von jedem, der dort geprobt hat, eine Tour gestartet hat… Für alles, was es bedeutete, war dieser Tag alles außer grau. Danke an die großartige Familie bei John Henry’s!

Видели бы вы лицо Джеффа, когда он отпил из своей кружки — бесценно! Как и то, как мы вместе над этим посмеялись. Время за кофе с Джеффом — утренний ритуал, который я ни за что не хотел бы пропустить, просто до этого момента у меня не было опыта приготовления “быстрого” кофе из Starbucks…:)
Так здорово было проехаться по улицам Лондона, а потом — встретиться с командой John Henry’s; мне не хватало глаз, чтобы рассмотреть все вокруг, не хватало слов, чтобы описать переполнявшие меня воодушевление и радость оттого, что мы вновь оказались там все вместе! Мне нравится запах этого места, эти коридоры, увешанные фотографиями репетировавших и начинавших здесь тур музыкантов… Этот день был каким угодно, но только не серым. Благодаря замечательной семье John Henry’s!

What better way for YFE to be welcomed back to England then with the weather.
Hopefully the weather will brighten up a little as the tour begins.
I’m crazy excited to see everyone again.
I’ve just got the stress’s of my personal license exam out of the way so tonight and the rest of tomorrow i will be readying myself mentally as well as physically for the madness that is Your Favorite Enemies.

Thanks for the lovely update and pictures Stephanie!! 🙂 Truly taking us there, just as you promised 🙂 Brings back memories of 2007’s “Tour Bus Confessionals”, but this looks a bit more comfortable. Matt, you’re awesome!! That driving on the “other side” is pretty challenging, especially in London. Fred did a great job driving us from Manchester to Liverpool and up to Scotland and back, but we took the train to London – he said “NO WAY” to driving there 🙂 Enjoy and take care!! Lots of prayers and love with you all!!
