On March 11th, 2011, the Northeast coast of Japan had been hit by one of the most destructive earthquakes and tsunamis ever registered in the country's modern history, leaving the whole population in fears and despairs.

Today, despite the threat of nuclear meltdown and lack of food and power, hopelessness, isolation, faithlessness and desperation are just some of the most horrifying consequences the whole population is facing days after the catastrophe.

Assured that in the midst of desperation, the quietest whisper of hope can be enough of a sound to make life bloom out of despair, that a voice can make a difference; we are inviting you to turn compassion into action. Express yourself!

About the Hope Project initiators,

Well known for their active role as spokespeople for Amnesty International and for the profound relationship they have with the Japanese people, the members of Montreal rock band Your Favorite Enemies with the support of the Terry Fox elementary school community and schools from the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board, decided to initiate the Hope Project.

This initiative is an alternative way to actively seed hope amongst the people touched by the tragedy, to bring awareness on how significant a simple word or a supportive message can be for anyone going through moments of despair and to encourage people to turn compassion into action.
