YFE Studio Hidden Camera

YFE Studio Hidden Camera

In June 2007, the band was releasing their very first EP, called “And If I Was To Die In The Morning… Would I Still Be Sleeping With You”. It was entirely recorded in their own “studio”, if you could call that a studio back then! It was located in the basement, foam panels on the walls to provide some kind of a better sound, and every little noise that was made, meant the track needed to be done again, because the mics would record everything one way or another!

It was totally DIY, totally homemade. We were pretty far back then from the studio we have today, in a church. But the passion they had was undeniable.

As soon as the EP was finished, they started working on the album “Love Is A Promise Whispering Goodbye”, that would be released in June 2008, one year after the EP. But before the album was released, in March that same year, the band was set to film their very first video clip, for the song “Open Your Eyes”, a classic most of you already know! And in this video, Alex brings you with them in studio, where, at the time, you could preview some of the changes that occurred on the song “Open Your Eyes”… 🙂

Get to see how the recording works, how the band composes the songs, gets them ready, how they throw in their different ideas for new parts in the song… And understand what kind of tragedy Sef was living at that moment – Jeff had just been kicked out of the band (or so he thought)… It’s always impressive to see how this man’s mind works!

Discover more in the video!!!! And enjoy the process of creation!!!

I remember when the changes were made on this song…
It took a while before I could fall in love with this new version… but when I saw the clip and how grandiose it was, I became totally amazed!! This song was now for me a starting point of a long journey. It’s the song that represents the past years where we built and solidified the community and vision of the band!

Can’t wait to hear the new album now and see how the music will define the rest of my journey!

It’s such a delight to look at all those blasts from the past, through the Ceremony & Jubilation releases!! Thanks for bringing those moments back… as well as Your Favorite Enemies’ very unique way of sharing their passion, DIY lifestyle and good sense of humor! LOL! I just love that!!

These ”Ceremony & Jubilation” videos are always so raw! Sometimes I watch them and I think to myself ”did we really want to film that?!” All of these ”Sef moments” and these ”living in a brown basement moments” in the lives of a bunch of crazy musicians lol!!

I remember each period of time that they refer to but yet, it refreshes me to see how real it was… They had a guitar in their hands, enough guts to believe that they could craft an album and their hearts were deeply rooted… I love it this way, I am glad that they never rebuked being themselves and sharing it openly with us!!

It’s great to see how far the band has come… but even greater to see that they’ve stuck to their DIY roots and never stopped being themselves! It’s also great to see how much the song ”Open Your Eyes” has changed and grown… just like the band!! It’s definitely part of our history! And what can I say about Sef!!! I guess things just wouldn’t be the same without him!!! LOL!!

I am so thankful that Sef was always a true mentor for me!
Now I do all that I can so I can teach all your teachings to others bro… So that they know it’s possible to become a king no matter your background!
