Indonesia Tour 2008 – June 4th, Jakarta

Indonesia Tour 2008 – June 4th, Jakarta

The band only had one show set in Jakarta. They headed over there right from Tokyo, after their tour in Japan.

TV interview in the morning, press conference in the afternoon, and TV performance on which they performed ”Open Your Eyes”!!! It was pretty special to be on a TV set where you couldn’t understand a word of what was said. Of course, when they were addressing the band members themselves, they spoke English, but besides that, everything was in Indonesian…! But people seemed to have a very good time! It was also the band’s first live appearance on TV… and people seemed to enjoy it very much, as you’ll see in the video!!!! As we were walking in the streets and shopping in the following days, people would recognize the band, and were all excited to tell us they had seen us on TV… 🙂

And then, radio interview. Just how busy can a day get??? lol! And all of this, before the show itself… 😉

And this is how the tour ended… 🙂

Japan Tour 2008 – May 29th, Nagoya

Japan Tour 2008 – May 29th, Nagoya

We were still high and excited about everything that happened the previous nights at the shows in Osaka and Tokyo. Nagoya was the last “official” show on this short Japanese Tour – we planned to do another show on our own in a small café the day after. That other show at the café wasn’t less important than the others, it’s just that we had arranged it all by ourselves, through friends, in a small venue, where it would be more intimate. So we thought. We never imagined that some people would have to listen from outside the café because it was already was over capacity… lol!

So Nagoya was somewhat the last show of the tour for us. And we were really excited about it… And it was long backstage. It felt like forever. But there were some technical problems, they said. So we needed to postpone the show a little more. The staff was restless. They were running around everywhere. They were screaming. Something was going on, but we didn’t know what. Then a friend and dear brother who was helping us came to us, telling us in a panic that the show was cancelled. But it couldn’t be. We didn’t hear about this at all. Not a word from the promoters or anything. And then they came. The show was really cancelled. It was happening. And there was nothing that we could do. Continue Reading

Japan Tour 2008 – May 28th, Tokyo

Japan Tour 2008 – May 28th, Tokyo

Second show in Tokyo, this time at the Akasaka Blitz…

Last week, you saw the band BEFORE they got on stage… This week, we show them to you right AFTER the show, still fresh from everything that happened, from every little glimpse of life that was born that night… Life creates life, and we just can’t doubt it.

As much as I was speechless that night after the show, right after everything that happened in front of my eyes, those images, 5 years later, still leave me speechless, and bring tears to my eyes. It feels good to be alive…

Japan Tour 2008 – May 27th, Tokyo

Japan Tour 2008 – May 27th, Tokyo

The second show that Your Favorite Enemies did in Japan was in Tokyo, at the Studio Coast in Shinkiba… An incredible venue, a pretty large one, that was completely filled with people who were on fire!!!!

You can see the band backstage before entering the show. They were greeted in the room by gifts and flowers, from fans who couldn’t attend the show on that night… Get to see the band go on stage, see them live, see what kind of relationship they have with the fans, feel the energy… and enjoy!!!!!!! Japan Tour 2008 – May 26th, Osaka

Japan Tour 2008 – May 26th, Osaka

This video was taken right after the show in Osaka, as the band was having a meet & greet with their Japanese family. It was Alex’s first time playing in Japan, a place that is very very very close to his heart. Alex tells us a little more about the show, about how he felt before getting on stage, and how it was for him to be there in Japan…

And let me tell you, the show was amazing!!!! A really special one… And the response was incredible as well!!! The connection with the fans was a totally new one… It was the first time for us to play in a country were language was such a huge barrier, but we witnessed on that night that it didn’t matter that much… Music speaks louder! Japan Tour 2008 – May 24th, Osaka

Ceremony & Jubilation

May 24th, 2008. It was the second day Your Favorite Enemies spent in Japan. They had arrived on the 23rd, spent the night at a hotel with rooms that were the size of a wardrobe in Tokyo after an amazing meet & greet with some of the family in Tokyo. It was the first experience in Japan for everyone except for Alex and I, but no matter, it felt just as amazing as the first time…

The first show was planned for the 26th, in Osaka. So we decided to have a meet & greet with the fans BEFORE the show. It would take place at the Hard Rock Café in Osaka. And I will ALWAYS remember the first time we entered the place. We didn’t know what to expect at all. We didn’t know who would be there or not. We didn’t even know if there would be anyone at all!!!!! Continue Reading

I’m A YFE Cowboy Baby!

In 2008, Your Favorite Enemies drove all the way down to Austin, Texas, to perform at the South By Southwest! 30 hours, 2 vans with 10-12 people in each of them. The whole crew was joining the band for a few days in Cowboy Land (or what we thought would be cowboy land). It was our first time going to Austin, and we discovered there a land that was colorful beyond imagination, with so many people, all going to the same festival, but to see completely different types of music, people of different ages, different backgrounds, different tastes, but one same love for music, whatever the genre. A city that has a lot more to offer than the music, and that is very alive… That is the least we can say!

And once again this time, though on unknown grounds, the band gave a performance like never before… And the testimony from people seeing them live for the first time is no lie about it all… And for all of us, this very special adventure is still well engraved in our hearts until this day… For each and every one of us in a different way, and for some in a very peculiar one!

Crashing The UK Airwaves

At “Talk Sport” Radio Station With Mike Mendoza And Sam Crompton…

We’re bringing you back to the UK with us! Just before leaving Europe, the band did an interview at the Talk Sport radio station, in London. All the band was there, except for Alex, who was still as sick as the previous days that night…

The band explains their expectations, the beginning of the band, life on tour, the reaction of the fans and their very special relationship with them…

Get to see Sef finally acknowledging that people do not understand him neither in French nor English. See the band on stage, off stage, with the fans…

And get to see Sef’s little guilty pleasure… “looking like a real king, with straight hair”…

Definitely a must-see video! You’ll laugh your head off! lol

How Great Amazing Can Be

How Great Amazing Can Be
Coming back from the European Tour

As Ben said introducing the video, the 2 weeks we had in Europe have been fantastic… And judging from the blogs that have been released in the previous weeks, I guess it’s easy to say that the memories we have from this tour are as vivid as if everything had happened yesterday!

And you need to understand… When we’re on a plane to go back home to Montreal, we like to sleep… And this sleep is amazingly good!!!! Especially after you spend 2 weeks with almost no sleep at all! Continue Reading

Tour Bus Confessional: France & Netherlands

Tour Bus Confessional: France & Netherlands

Dream-like Germany was over… We left the country by night, once more, this time for a much longer ride than we had done in the last few days. But still, not so long. When you think about it, there’s around 5 hours between Cologne and Paris. You need to go across 2 countries. And a ride from Montreal to Toronto is 6 hours. We’re still in the same country, only a different province (and believe me, everything looks gorgeous when you compare it to the Highway-401, the highway between Montreal and Toronto… There’s nothing as boring as this… lol!)

So we arrived in Paris some time early in the morning. I must say, I do not really remember when it was… But I remember it was another very cold day, another gray and rainy day. Looks like we carried the English weather around with us everywhere we went on that tour!

We were parked just outside the venue… We opened the curtains to see, to our big surprise, a mass of fans already gathered around the bus! When did they get there, that early in the morning? We didn’t think about it too much, we were just happy to see them, and to finally be able to meet them all! So we got dressed up (closed the curtains before, of course…), had some coffee and it was time to get out the bus… We were all so very excited until, totally horrified, we saw our manager get out of the bus before us, in underwear, in front of all the fans, to grab his suitcase under the tour bus. Ouch. We were ashamed. And kind of feeling sorry… for the fans. We said hello to everyone, introduced ourselves, talked a bit… It was simple, yet a very good time!

The posters outside the venue
